Hello! My name is Rebecca Smith. I am a Visual Arts I & III Instructor. This is my third year at Northeast High School and my sixth year teaching. I am an Army wife and originally from East Tennessee. I received a BFA in Studio Arts and a minor in education from East Tennessee State University in 2016. Art has always been my passion. My privilege as an educator is to help each student find their voice through self-expression in the arts. Following the TN Visual Art State Standards, students will further develop their abilities and build confidence in their knowledge of art techniques and mediums through experimentation. I believe Art is about the journey rather than the destination.

Grade Announcement for Parents & Students:

Teachers are required to input assignments before the due date, so that you can be aware of assignments that are upcoming. This means that any in-progress grade will appear in PowerSchool. If a student completes the assignment on time, then the grade will improve upon the next grade update. Grades will be updated in PowerSchool at least 2 times per week.

A - Act Responsible: You are responsible for your own learning, be awake and engaged in class. You must turn in assignments (your own work) on time for full credit.
R - Respect yourself, others, and materials: Listen when others are talking. Be safe with art tools and materials. Return borrowed materials at the end of class.
T - Try your best: Work during class, show up on time, care about your work, be prepared with your sketchbook and pencil every class, and ask for help when needed.
