CMCSS Will Host Nationally Recognized Tall Cop Drug Abuse and Prevention Workshop

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) is inviting parents and community members to a free information session focused on understanding the warning signs of drug use and abuse. Nationally recognized public speaker and advocate, Officer Jermaine Galloway, will lead attendees through “High in Plain Sight”. The session will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Reserve your seats today.

This workshop will provide attendees with the ability, knowledge, and confidence to help prevent and identify individuals who are abusing drugs and/or alcohol.  Attendees will also be taught the strategies and different terms that are consistent with alcohol and drug abuse. There are several identifiers, logos, and terms that are commonly related to drug (illegal and over-the-counter) and alcohol abuse, marijuana abuse, and drug concealment on school, home, and work property. These items, along with much more, will be discussed.

Due to the nature of the topic and the material covered, adults are welcome, but children are not permitted. The workshop will be held at West Creek High School, 1210 West Creek Coyote Trail, Clarksville. This information is beneficial to parents and family members of middle and high school students, as well as community members, business leaders, and organizations who work closely with adolescents. Limited seating is available. Use this link to reserve your seats https://tinyurl.com/tallcop26.

Sports Physical opportunity – May 2, 2026

Please be reminded that all students wanting to tryout and participate in sports or spirit for the 2026/2027 school year must have a sports physical dated AFTER April 15, 2026.  TOA is sponsoring their annual sports physicals for $20 on May 2nd at Rossview High School.  The scheduled block of time for NEHS student athletes is 7:00am.  This is a convenience for the student athletes so if you miss the May 2nd date, you can get your sports physical from anywhere you wish as long as dated after April 15, 2026.  TOA graciously gives a portion of the fee back to NEHS!

Student leadership opportunities available now! The Youth Leadership Clarksville is now accepting applications for the Youth Leadership Clarksville Class of 2027. They will be accepting applications through May 25, 2026.

Updated student brochures will soon be available so stop by the NEHS Counseling Department and pick one up.  The brochure provides an overview of the program along with the program dates for next year. Youth Leadership Clarksville continues to be a valuable opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, build connections within the community, and gain a broader understanding of Clarksville’s civic and professional landscape.  Being part of different organizations while still in high school, look great on college or career applications.
